Privacy Policy
Describes how Aventerre collects, uses, and protects personal information
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Aventerre collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information from website visitors, applicants, and Guests confirmed for a Journey.
Aventerre's approach is to collect as little as the work requires, to limit who can see it, to protect it appropriately, and to delete it when it is no longer needed. Where a piece of information is not necessary to decide an application or to run a Journey safely, Aventerre would rather not hold it.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly: name, email, phone number, city, application responses (age, gender, who you're open to a romantic connection with, social handle, relationship status, and free-text answers), an optional photo, dietary/accessibility information, and payment information (processed by a third-party payment processor). If you sign up for our email list (available on the website footer), we collect the email address you provide for that purpose alone.
Information collected automatically: our website host keeps standard server access logs, which include IP address, browser type, and pages requested. Aventerre does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers — see the section on tracking below.
3. Sensitive Information
Certain information you provide — including dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, other health-adjacent details, and who you're open to a romantic connection with — is treated with heightened care. This information is used solely to plan and accommodate your participation in a Journey and to thoughtfully curate group composition, is optional to provide, and is not used for any other purpose without your consent.
4. How We Use Information
- To evaluate applications and determine invitations to Journeys.
- To curate group composition for balance and compatibility across a Journey.
- To communicate with applicants and Guests regarding logistics and payment.
- To provide reasonable accommodations for disclosed needs.
- To maintain the safety and integrity of Journeys.
- To improve Aventerre's services and, with consent — including if you sign up for our email list — send marketing communications, such as updates on new Journeys.
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. How We Share Information
Aventerre does not sell personal information and does not share it for advertising. Information is shared only with: the vendors necessary to deliver a Journey (accommodation, catering, transport, activity providers); the Host assigned to a Journey; our payment processor, Stripe, which handles card details directly — Aventerre never sees or stores your full card number; the providers who carry out identity verification and background screening; the services that host our website and hold our records; our email provider, if you have joined the mailing list; and regulators or law enforcement where required by law. Aventerre will name any of these providers on request. We do not share your application responses with other Guests.
6. Data Retention
Aventerre keeps information only as long as it is needed, and applies different periods to applicants and to Guests. These periods are current practice and may be extended where the law requires it.
- Applications that are declined or withdrawn — deleted within 12 months of the decision, unless you ask us to keep your application on file for future Journeys.
- Photographs submitted with an application — deleted once the application has been decided, or once identity verification is complete, whichever is later.
- Background check reports — not retained. Aventerre records only whether screening was cleared, never the contents of a report.
- Booking, payment, and Journey records — retained for 7 years after the end of a Journey, for tax, accounting, insurance, and legal purposes.
- Mailing list — until you unsubscribe.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict our use of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact hello@aventerre.co. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
8. Data Security
Aventerre uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Photography & Likeness
Photos or recordings taken during a Journey may be used in marketing materials unless you opt out in advance by notifying hello@aventerre.co.
10. Children's Privacy
Aventerre's services are intended for adults only and are not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Aventerre does not set cookies on your device. Our website uses no analytics platform, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers of any kind. Nothing you do on aventerre.co is followed across other websites.
Our website host keeps standard server access logs — IP address, browser type, and pages requested — which are used to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because Aventerre does not track visitors across websites in the first place, there is nothing for the signal to switch off, and no change in behaviour is required.
12. Third-Party Links
Aventerre's website may link to third-party sites. Aventerre is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
13. Where Your Information Is Held
Aventerre is based in the United States and stores personal information there. If you provide information from outside the United States, it will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data protection standards different from those of your country of residence. Where Aventerre uses service providers, they are bound by agreement to protect personal information in accordance with applicable data protection law.
14. Automated Decisions
Decisions about applications and invitations are made by a person. Aventerre does not use automated profiling, scoring, matching, or artificial intelligence to accept or decline applicants, and does not make any decision about you by automated means alone.
Identity verification and background screening are carried out by third-party providers who may use automated processes within their own systems. The decision that follows — whether to invite you — is always made by a person.
15. Changes to This Policy
Aventerre may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
